Covid-19 Symptom Tracking and Healthy Living

Covid-19 outbreak is life-threatening, especially in individuals aged 65 and over, with chronic illness or a weakened immune system. Within the scope of our Covid Symptom Tracking at Home and Healthy Living R&D project, original wearable technologies have been developed to monitor Covid-19 symptoms from home. Thanks to the devices worn on the wrist and chest areas, it is possible to continuously monitor the respiratory amplitude, respiratory sounds, airway narrowing, cough, wheezing, pulse and body temperature values ​​of individuals. In addition, it is possible to deliver recommendations for individuals to maintain a healthy lifestyle by observing steps, mobility, nutrition and sleep patterns, location, environmental particle density, humidity and temperature values, via video communication or digital content and activities through the interaction box connected to the television. In this way, it is possible to follow the symptoms of Covid-19 without leaving the house, the risk groups of individuals can be identified, the uncontrolled spread of the disease can be prevented by ensuring that individuals who need intervention and treatment or detailed diagnostic tests visit hospitals, and the spread of the epidemic can be followed. In this way, an effective and rapid epidemic control infrastructure is provided by taking the epidemic under control and early detection of secondary spread trends. The realized product also provides support for isolated life at home and offers solutions that support mental and physical health during the process spent at home. These solutions include applications for video communication with individuals at home, personal training and interactive exercise programs, thanks to the delivery of recommendations created by artificial intelligence-based algorithms to health professionals by monitoring the mobility, sleep pattern, nutrition pattern, immune system and vital values ​​of individuals at home.

Since the Covid-19 epidemic creates adverse conditions that can result in loss of life affecting the world, controlling the spread of the epidemic and supporting the combat processes with effective and fast solutions has become an urgent need all over the world. In the process of controlling the epidemic, the primary reflex was the treatment of those caught in the epidemic. This process was followed by activities to increase the diagnosis rates by popularizing the screening tests and to take control of the spread by activating the intervention. Carrying out diagnosis and follow-up processes in hospitals puts both individuals and healthcare professionals at risk, and creates negative conditions for controlling the spread. Individuals visiting the hospital with symptoms of illness are hospitalized and kept under observation. In addition, the fact that diagnostic tests can be applied to a certain number of individuals during the day and that these tests must be repeated in the same individuals for an effective follow-up prevents diagnostic tests from being carried out in a widespread population in a short time and effective follow-up. On the other hand, with the prolongation of the implementation period of the home isolation measures applied to control the spread of the epidemic, the mental and physical health of the individuals staying at home has also become a problem to be solved. With the solutions developed within the scope of our Covid Symptom Tracking at Home and Healthy Living R&D project, individuals can monitor their Covid-19 symptoms without leaving the house, thereby reducing the burden on the health system by reducing the density in hospitals, and analyzing the symptoms and vital signs detected in the individuals followed by diagnostic tests. It is aimed to be implemented effectively with the support of artificial intelligence-based algorithms, to constantly monitor the spread and effects of Covid-19 and to take the necessary measures in place and on time. In addition, in order to enable individuals in social isolation at home to change their lifestyles in a positive way in terms of mental and physical health, it is aimed to monitor the sleep patterns, nutrition patterns, vital signs and to inform the health professionals about communicating with individuals with artificial intelligence-based algorithms, and to provide personalized training and interaction content at home. It is aimed to reach the interaction tool and to motivate with interactive exercise applications.
